I love Saturdays

Well, the weather was great today so we worked in the yard for a while. Got some of the landscaping cleaned up, cleaned out the garage, stuff like that. Josh was so adorable! He just had to be in the middle of whatever we were doing. He liked being outside, but I think it was a little too windy for him. After a while he got tired and Leandra put him down for a nap, and we had a couple of hours more to work.

Patrick called; he was lonely. He's a friend from college, late 20s, single, consultant. Talking to him really made me more thankful for what I do have. It's just a typical middle-class late-20s lifestyle, and it's easy to take for granted. But I told him we were just out working in the yard and he said "I'm jealous" and I realized how blessed I am to have a yard and someone to work in it with. I know it sounds cheesy, but it's true.

I don't want to end on a sappy note. So, why is it that everyone loses any shred of common sense and courtesy when they enter Wal-Mart? Is there a class on the best way to position yourself and your cart to block an aisle most effectively? I think there must be, because so many people are so good at it! Like this one lady - she was just pushing her basket down a main aisle. Suddenly she stops, twists the cart, and backs up just a bit so it turns at an angle. Then she starts writing in her day runner, totally oblivious to the rest of the world! I just don't get it. One of these days I'm going to lose it.
