Two crazy gun stories

This site has moved to robert.williamsonline.us.

I noticed two crazy gun stories at The Obscure Store & Reading Room.

First, some guy accidentally shot a girl while posing for a picture. Some quotes and commentary:

Lessard, a security guard who had police training

He has "police training" and doesn't have the common sense to (1) not point a loaded gun at someone and (2) know how to not shoot someone?

he moved the body from his living room to his kitchen entryway, threw his gun on the ground outside

What kind of idiot?! How in the world could moving the body possibly help?

"Lessard stated that the shot occurred when he raised the gun."

Shots don't "occur" when you raise a gun. Shots "occur" when you pull the trigger. I believe it was an accident, but I don't understand how any responsible person (especially one with any training or experience) could accidentally pull a trigger.

OK, second story. Someone left a gun in an oven. When they turned the oven on later, a bullet fired and killed a baby.

a relative discovered a Glock .40-caliber semiautomatic pistol lying in the kitchen area Tuesday morning and placed it in the oven to get it out of the way

What was a loaded gun doing "lying in the kitchen area"? Who is that stupid?

And who puts a gun in an oven? Who is that stupid?

the child's teenage parents, Jamie Miller and Christopher Goodwin; the baby's maternal grandmother, Donna Miller, 46; the grandmother's 13-year-old daughter; and another man, all of whom live at the home.

Oh, that's who.

These people all ought to be locked away for being dumb.
