My neighbor's father was recently facing capital murder charges for allegedly killing a cop. I think he probably did it, but there's no way to conclusively prove it. The jury found him not guilty. I agree with their decision.

But now they have him on attempted capital murder charges - for the same incident. I don't understand. That seems too much like "double jeopardy" to me.

i live in a very tough on crime county. very. we have some of the safest cities in the US because everyone who even looks vaguely criminal is in and out of jail all the time. no, i'm exaggerating. but it's an unfortunate fact that local juries (i.e., the people who aren't clever enough to get out of jury duty) some enormous percentage of them believe, if you're arrested, you're guilty.
