I'm tired of this.
I'm tired of working in an 8x8 cube in a windowless room when the weather is beautiful and I have a wonderful family and a house I've worked very hard to improve. I'm tired of wearing a name badge. I'm tired of being known by a number.
I'm tired of spending all my time working to pay for things I'd really enjoy if I just had the time to enjoy them.
I'm tired of developing programs to improve a manufacturing process I don't understand to make better products for customers I don't know anything about.
I'm tired of doing business with impersonal clerks at large stores owned by nameless, faceless corporations.
I'm tired of my paycheck being the same regardless whether I work hard or slack off. I'm tired of my pay being tied to factors almost entirely out of my control.
I'm tired of my life being governed by professional politicians who don't even know I exist or care what's right and what's wrong.
I'm tired of being tired of this but lacking the knowledge of how to fix or the gumption to do so.
Posted by Robert at April 30, 2002 11:59 AMrobert, i usually disagree with you, but i must say i wholeheartedly empathise with your sentiments in this post. i as well have been doing a bit of soul searching, as the tech industry is boring me to tears. i hope that you find something that satisfies your inner self, that makes you feel proud of what you do, and that makes you proud of yourself. good luck brother.
