We got back home from our Bible study around 9:00 pm. While Leandra was getting Joshua (who was asleep) out of the car, I walked out to check the mail. I was surprised to see a snake in the road next to my mailbox. It was grey with dark patches that kind of shone in the light, and it was around 2 feet long.
I called for Leandra but she already had Joshua, so I just let her go on inside and I went to get a flashlight. I headed back out into the yard to hunt for the snake and found it a few feet in my yard, slithering through the grass.
I got a closer look at it and decided it wasn't poisonous. I think it was an Eastern Glossy Snake, or maybe a Great Plains Rat Snake. So I thought I would just capture it and let it go somewhere away from the house.
Now, I am deathly afraid of snakes and have been since I was little. I know it's irrational but I can't help it.
Anyway, Leandra was still working on putting the baby down and so I had to leave the snake in the yard to go get something to catch it in. I came back out with a bucket and a board to capture the snake, and a grass rake to scoop it into the bucket with. Great! I've got everything I need.
Now, where's the snake?
