I found a link to a site about how to make your weblog more accessible to mentally, physically, and/or technologically disabled visitors. I've only scanned a few of them, but they seem pretty reasonable and I'll be implementing them soon. I recommend everyone does.
My short stint doing work-study at Dallas Lighthouse for the Blind really made me aware of the challenges faced by the disabled, as well as showing me how well they can adapt.
This will sound funny, but I later had a work-study job as a PC repair tech at SMU. I had to frequently haul computers, monitors, and printers (including some huge ones) around campus on a dolly. It made me very appreciative of the obstacles people in wheelchairs face. Have you ever tried to lug a laser printer up a flight of stairs on a dolly? Even many of the elevators were inaccessible for all intents and purposes (e.g., too small, too hard to open the doors and get the dolly in - some of the elevators had heavy swinging doors that opened manually). I was amazed how daunting a few short steps looked when you had to roll something instead of walk.
This is probably suprising coming from such a right-wing extremist villain. ;-)
