Vatican Excommunicates Seven Women 'Priests' -- 08/07/2002
The Vatican has excommunicated seven women who claimed to have been ordained
It is quite ironic to me that the Catholic church takes a stronger stand here than on pedophile and homosexual priests. It is also strange to me that the Roman Catholic Church takes a stronger stand on this than many Baptist churches.
The church made the right decision. Men and women are different, and were designed differently by our Creator for different purposes. The Bible is perfectly clear that women are not permitted to serve in some functions within the Christian church. While I reject Rome's notion of a priesthood, women are clearly prohibited in the Bible from holding the office of pastor.
I should add that it's not a question of worth. It's a question of permission. God invented the church, He invented the offices, and He can fill them however He pleases.
I also think one reason God permits only men to serve in some positions does have to do with qualifications. Some offices require certain abilities and characteristics that are in line with the natural differences God designed into men, and are incompatible with the differences God designed into women. The inverse is also quite true.
