Humanist Ten Commandments

FIRST COMMANDMENT
BIBLICAL VERSION: Jehovah, our Creator, is our deliverer.
HUMANIST VERSION: Humanity is divine. Humanity needs no deliverance
outside of humanity.

SECOND COMMANDMENT
BIBLICAL VERSION: Men may not worship other gods, nor may they worship
the true God in ways contrary to His revealed will.
HUMANIST VERSION: People are free to celebrate the spiritual dimensions
of their being in any fashion they choose.

THIRD COMMANDMENT
BIBLICAL VERSION: God's Name must not be misused.
HUMANIST VERSION: God's name may certainly be misused, but you may not
speak against any people-group (except followers of Jehovah).

FOURTH COMMANDMENT
BIBLICAL VERSION: God has set apart one day in each seven on which He is
to be honored as our Creator and Redeemer. We rest in Him in order to be
more fit to work for Him.
HUMANIST VERSION: Humankind deserves a weekend. We work in order to rest.

FIFTH COMMANDMENT
BIBLICAL VERSION: Honor parents and authorities.
HUMANIST VERSION: Each individual is his/her own authority.

SIXTH COMMANDMENT
BIBLICAL VERSION: Do not innocent people to death, but you must put murderers to death.
HUMANIST VERSION: You may murder innocent babies and other weak beings,
but you may not put murderers to death.

SEVENTH COMMANDMENT
BIBLICAL VERSION: Be sexually pure.
HUMANIST VERSION: Be impure, but be careful.

EIGHTH COMMANDMENT
BIBLICAL VERSION: Do not steal, but give.
HUMANIST VERSION: Steal by proxy and take what you can.

NINTH COMMANDMENT
BIBLICAL VERSION: Do not give false testimony.
HUMANIST VERSION: What is truth?

TENTH COMMANDMENT
BIBLICAL VERSION: Do not covet.
HUMANIST VERSION: Covet everything, envy all.
