The Gun was the Problem

I was just reading the rest of this article and noticed the following quote:
"We have the weapon. It's off the street," Moose said.
Umm...isn't it a bit more significant that you have the snipers and that they are "off the street"? As though their gun was going around shooting people all by itself or something. Blame the gun. Good one.
A lot of people own guns like the one they used. The big difference is that these guys wanted to shoot innocent people instead of animals or targets. It has nothing to do with the gun. Any hunting rifle would have worked just as well.
